Case Study 1

Banking Industry Conference

Date: 6 – 9 October 2011
No of participants:  176
Hotel: Westin Dragonara Resort

Pre-convention arrivals began on 1st October. Some of the conference participants could not wait to enjoy Malta’s sunshine and booked a pre stay. During this time SIT team members conducted meetings with the client to run through the program details and the various set ups required for the event.

Day 1 – 6th October

On arrival of the group on the 6th October, the delegates boarded Coaches accompanied by guides and were transferred to the Three Cities, where they boarded speedboats which led them to large Gullets for a harbour Cruise with Champagne and appetizers as a lovely welcome to the Island.

In the evening they were treated to a lovely barbeque at the Reef Club of the Westin Dragonara Hotel directly overlooking the sea. They then enjoyed a Bedouin area set up to enjoy after dinner drinks and chill out music. It was a magical night.

Day 2 – 7th October

The delegates started the day with a Speedboat ride from the hotel jetty to Gozo, via the blue lagoon in Comino. On arrival at Hondoq Ir-Rummien, the delegates found their conference set up in tents on the beach. The tents were in different colours with plants to enhance the area and outside the tents were sun beds and towels. A promise for a well-deserved break after their conference.

A delicious buffet lunch was served on the beach and the delegates relaxed for the rest of the afternoon until it was time to transfer back to Malta by speedboats.

Their Gala Dinner was held in the quaint and historical Silent City, Mdina where they were welcomed by a Grandmaster and a fanfare of trumpets and drummers. The bridge that led to this fortified city was lit with fire bowls which enhanced the atmosphere and illuminated the path. After the Grandmaster made his welcome speech, he escorted the delegates to their dinner venue for a lavish Gala Dinner with entertainment by local musicians.

Day 3 – 8th October

This was activity morning! The destination was Golden Sands where a Build-a-Boat activity was set up in a reserved area of the beach with exclusive use of the delegates. It was a fun event and each team worked hard for the win! A barbeque lunch was prepared for the delegates on the beach and they then made their way back to the hotel, fed, sun kissed and very content.

It was a chilled out evening with dinner in a local restaurant followed by some free time for each delegate to explore Malta’s vibrant nightlife in St. Julians, a stone’s throw away from their hotel.

Day 4 – 9th October

Departure day…with promises to be back on a private holiday with their family..
